Content with the agency’s growth and eager to pursue her clinical career interests, Vicky DiProva is stepping down as executive director of the Lesbian Community Cancer Project (LCCP). Her resignation, which takes effect April 1, caps a successful two-and-a-half year tenure as LCCP’s chief, the agency said.
“It has been an honor and a pleasure to work with the many wonderful women at the Lesbian Community Cancer Project provide health services and education to lesbian and non-lesbian women,” said DiProva, who earned her Master’s in Social Work degree from the University of Chicago.
LCCP board president Christie Dailey praised DiProva’s stewardship of the agency. “Vicky has brought tremendous energy and vision to ensuring that the needs of lesbians are at the forefront of health practice. Under her tenure, LCCP’s staff has doubled, the agency has created new services, and LCCP is more fiscally stable than it has ever been. We look forward to the next stage in LCCP’s growth and wish Vicky all the best in her future career,” said Dailey.
“I feel truly privileged to have had the opportunity to lead LCCP through this important phase in its development,” added DiProva. “I am thrilled with the direction the agency has taken over the past 2— 1/2 years and I am certain of its continued growth and success.” LCCP has formed a search committee for a new executive director, who is expected to assume leadership in the summer.
The mission of the Lesbian Community Cancer Project is to promote lesbian health, with a focus on cancer-related issues. LCCP provides support, information, education, advocacy, and clinical services to lesbian and non-lesbian women and their families of choice.
