Amigas Latinas has started ‘Proyecto Latina,’ a survey that will document the experiences and challenges that Latina LBTQ women face in the Chicagoland area.

The data gathered will be used to educate communities, service providers and policymakers about the needs of Latina LGBTQ women; to assist the organization in meeting the needs of its target population; and to make life experiences and challenges of this population visible.

The information gathered will be used to, among other things, address homophobia and transphobia within Latino communities; and to guide Amigas Latinas in reaching out to underserved populations (i.e., immigrant, transgender, bisexual women and youth).
