On Tues., Sept. 11, actress Kathy Najimy (above, left) spoke to approximately 2,000 guests at the Chicago Foundation for Women’s (CFW’s) 22nd Annual Luncheon and Symposium, held at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, 151 E. Wacker. Najimy, a last-minute replacement for Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Shirin Ebadi, delivered a rousing speech in which she mixed humor with serious praise for CFW’s goals and actions, according to an organizational press release. During the event, CFW also announced its 100-point action plan for getting everyone involved in reducing violence against women and girls. ‘A Call to Action, Part 1’ was the culmination of the foundation’s year-long initiative, ‘What Will It Take? Building the Safest State for All Women and Girls.’ On the right is CFW African-American Leadership Council Co-Chair Gwen Gilbert Cohen. Photos by Kat Fitzgerald.
