Researchers at the University of Chicago and Howard Brown Health Center are developing a group-based smoking cessation program for HIV-positive African-American men who have sex with men (MSM). The research team hopes to recruit 30 men to participate in focus groups and provide feedback on the development of smoking-cessation materials.
Among MSM, African Americans have the highest rates of newly diagnosed HIV infection and often report high rates of health compromising behaviors, such as tobacco use, which may play an important role in poorer overall survival rates.
