The Chicago Department of Public Health and the Syphilis Elimination Task Force will provide Chicago’s first Syphilis Testing Day on April 26.

Community organizations throughout the city will promote the benefits of syphilis education, testing and prevention.

Officials are concerned about an increase in syphilis cases in 2005. Following a decline in the number of cases in 2003, new information released by CDPH shows that a reversal has taken place, resulting in a marked increase.
