The Chicago Force women’s pro football team continued their undefeated inaugural season into the first round of the playoffs Saturday, beating Corvallis (Oregon) Pride 28-14. In front of their home crowd, the Force got off to a shaky start, coughing up 14 points. But the defense kicked in and provided a window of opportunity for an aggressive offense, led by game MVP quarterback Cyndi Cardenas and offense players Theresa Simon and Heather Tang. The Force got serious, with 28 unanswered points, to win 28-14. They tackle Sacramento next week and if they win, they travel to New York for the finals of the 26-team Independent Women’s Football League. See www.chicagoforcefootball.com.
