On Sat., Oct.16, the Illinois Family Institute (IFI), Concerned Women of America and others opposed to equal rights for LGBT people will rally in Marquette Park in an attempt to bring to Illinois a statewide constitutional amendment banning equal marriage rights. This is the kickoff rally to a state-wide bus tour promoting the amendment.
Church of the Open Door, Equal Marriage Now! and the Chicago Anti-Bashing Network have planned a nonviolent protest. Pro-gay rights forces will assemble at 1pm, Sat. Oct. 16 at the park on the corner of Kedzie and 67th St., Chicago, and travel as a group.
The anit-gay group is set to rally near Elmhurst College Sat. at 5pm, Oct. 16, in Wilder Park, 175 Prospect Ave. in Elmhurst.
Elmhurst College is accessible by the Union Pacific West Metra line, for $5 round trip (departing at Olgivie Transportation Center) Interstate 290, and route 83/Kingery Highway. Parking is free, and a guide will be waiting at the station to direct groups to the campus, located a block away.
