Jose Zuniga, president of the Chicago-based International Association of Physicians in AIDS Care and Rocco Claps, the director of the Illinois Department of Human Rights, are among 65 LGBT leaders who are part of
LGBT Americans for Hillary, a national steering committee. The committee will work in several areas to assist Sen. Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, including political outreach and fundraising.
‘Her commitment to repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and her steadfast work to improve access to care and treatment for people living with HIV/AIDS are just two of the reasons why I support Hillary Clinton for President,’ Zuniga (who was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1993 after coming out as a gay man) said in a statement.
Among other members of the committee are former Human Rights Campaign Executive Director Elizabeth Birch; sports legend Billie Jean King; TV producer Greg Berlanti; and Olivia Cruises General Manager Lisa Henderson.
