CHICAGO — The Prairie District Neighborhood Alliance will host its Annual Easter Egg Hunt, at Chicago's Women's Park and Gardens featuring a variety of family activities, on Saturday, March 30 from 12:00 p.m. to 2 p.m. This popular holiday event is expected to draw over a 1500 people from the South Loop and surrounding communities.
The Easter Egg hunt will begin at 12:15 p.m. During the hunt, children will search for over 10.000 brightly colored toy and candy filled plastic eggs and will be able to win prizes. The egg hunt is recommended for children ages 10 and under. There will be separate designated areas for the hunt, with an area for the younger children and an area for the older children. Children should bring their own Easter basket and must be accompanied by an adult. "The Easter Egg Hunt is such a fun event for the kids, and it is just wonderful to see so many of them hunting for eggs all dressed up in their Easter outfits," said Gail Dempsey, Board member of the PDNA. "We know so many residents and neighbors in the South Loop are looking forward to this event," she said.
The PDNA is very excited to partner with the Junior League of Chicago to bring, The Health Train to this year's Easter Egg Hunt. The Health Train is a model project based on CLOCC's 5,4,3,2,1 Go! Program to lower childhood obesity, but the kids just think it's fun. "We are thrilled to feature The Health Train at our event to promote healthy and active lifestyles for children around Chicago," said Tina Feldstein, PDNA President. "The presentations are fun, interactive and approachable, and will include educational activities, sing-a-longs and games designed for boys and girls ages 6-10," Feldstein added.
Other activities include: An animal petting zoo, piñatas and a visit with the Easter Bunny. Glessner House, a landmark House Museum which is located adjacent to the Women's Park, will partner with the PDNA to provide fun carnival games for the kids. "We are happy to be a part of our community and welcome families," said Lynne Smaczny, Assistant to the Director at Glessner House. The PDNA will be giving away a large number of great prizes, including plenty of toys provided by event sponsors, ADT Security, Well Future Pharmacy among others. Attendees will also enjoy special Easter cupcakes and cookies, as well as plenty of candy and refreshments. There will be lots of great photo opportunities, so parents should bring their cameras.
The Chicago Women's Park and Gardens is located 1801 S. Indiana Avenue in Chicago. Admission is $10 for children and $4 for age 11 years to adult. There is no charge for children age 12 months and under. Space is limited and RSVP is Required.
