Vanessa DiBernardo and Kealia Watt celebrated league milestones as the Chicago Red Stars defeated the OL Reign at home (SeatGeek Stadium) on July 18.
DiBernardo reached the 10,000th minute mark in her NWSL (National Women's Soccer League) careermaking her the sixth player all-time to accomplish the feat for one team and the first Red Stars player to do so. Thirty-nine minutes later, Watt reached the same mark for her career.
After the Reign scored the game's first goal, the Reign's Celia Jimenez hit the ball into Chicago's net to tie the game off of an own-goal at the 48-minute mark. Seven minutes later, the Reign's Alana Cook accidentally hit the ball past her own keeper from a Red Stars corner to give the Red Stars a 2-1 lead.
The Red Stars sealed the deal when Mallory Pugh received a pass from Watt and scored, giving the Red Stars a 3-1 lead.
The Red Stars next play Sunday, July 25 as they travel to take on NJ/NY Gotham at 5 p.m. CT.
