LGBTQ Victory Fundthe only national organization dedicated to electing LGBTQ leaders to public officeendorsed 23 LGBTQ candidates, including New York City Council Speaker Corey Johnson in his race for New York City comptroller.
Victory Fund has backed 75 LGBTQ candidates for the 2021 cycle.
Among the other endorsements are Illinois candidate Kristal Larson, who's running for Avon Township clerk; and Michael Campbell, who's vying to be re-elected as Fox River Grove Memorial Library board trustee. Elections for their races will take place Tuesday, April 6.
According to the website Avon Focused, Larson, who is transgender, is a lifelong resident of Avon Township, currently residing in Hainesville with her spouse and two children for the past 12 years. She is a current board member of A Safe Place For Help supporting victims of domestic violence throughout Lake County, a member of PFLAG Grayslake/Round Lake and is a member of the Grayslake Chamber of Commerce.
Campbell, per his campaign website, is an educational consultant and entrepreneur. In 2014, he was appointed to the Fox River Grove Memorial Library Board and was elected to the board in 2015. Since then, he was elected to the RAILS (Reaching Across Illinois Library System) board of directors, and he is currently board president.
