Chicago-based Trilogy Behavioral Healthcare will present its Partner in Recovery Award to The Kennedy Forum founder, mental-health advocate and former Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy as a part of its virtual 50th-anniversary gala on Thursday, Oct. 21.
The Partner in Recovery Award is given to those who have supported the work of Trilogy by advancing public understanding of mental health issues, advocated for resources to support mental health, or worked to reduce stigma around mental illness.
During his time in Congress (1995-2011), Kennedy was the lead author of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (Federal Parity Law), which requires insurers to cover treatment for mental-health and substance-use disorders no more restrictively than treatment for illnesses of the body, such as diabetes and cancer.
During Pride Month 2021, Kennedya longtime ally of the LGBTQ communitytweeted, "Members of the #LGBTQ community are more likely to experience challenges with their mental health. This #PrideMonth, help spread the word about resources from @PsychHub's Mental Wellbeing Hub designed to support and empower."
The gala will start at 6 p.m. See www.trilogyinc.org/news-events-blog/gala/ for more information.
