The Trance, a Chicago-based theater ensemble, returns to the stage with Riding the Bicycle.
It will be performed at The Edge Theatre, 5451 N. Broadway, on Friday-Saturday, July 30-31, at 8 p.m.
According to an email from Managing Director Tim Veach, "This world premiere production explores the duality of bisexuality in a literal way as the main character, Ella, inhabits the production in two simultaneously seamlessly woven scenes."
"There are two voices inside my head, working on this piecethe director
and the writer," said Trance Artistic Director Maggie Veach in a statement. "I have a constant struggle with my dual creative identities as an artist.
"Ella also struggles, not just in her own dual nature but in her relationships. This play is a contradiction and convergence of opposing thoughts and desires."
Riding the Bicycle was originally slated to be produced in 2020, but was postponed due to the COVID pandemic.
Tickets ($10-$20 each) can be purchased at www.trancetheatrepoetrydance.net or at the venue beginning one hour before each performance.
