In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the Lesbian Community Cancer Project will present the first “Breast Self-Exam Poetry Slam” Sunday, Oct. 22, 2-4 p.m. at Gerber/Hart Library, 1127 W. Granville Ave. Although the event is open to the public and free, only adult women will be admitted. Spoken word artists scheduled include: C.C. Carter, Juanita Crespo, Vernita Gray, Jessica Halem, RoiAnn Phillips, Sharmili Majmudar and Donna Rose.
