My hot pick this week is Further To Fly: Black Women and the Politics of Empowerment by Sheila Radford-Hill (University of Minnesota Press). OK, so it’s not a feet-up-on-the-sofa, hot-chocolate-and-marshmallows, lesbian romance novel. It’s a feminist critique of the role of Black women in society today. Not being a Black woman myself, or having that life-experience, the book was a bit of an eye-opener for me. Thought provoking and tough to read.
