Facets Multimedia screens Chutney Popcorn April 13-19. This 1999 film, directed by Nisha Ganatra, looks at Indian traditions, modern New York, and commitment-phobic lesbians with a comedic twist. You might recognize one former Law & Order District Attorney as the lesbian love interest of Ganatra, who stars as well as directing. This ia a very fun light comedy that treats lesbianism as a casual part of everyday life—even though Indian traditions would appear to be in the way.
Runs 7 and 9 p.m. Also, matinees at 3 and 5 p.m. Saturday, April 14 and Sunday, April 15. Cost is just $7, and Facets is at 1517 W. Fullerton, (773) 281-9075 or www.facets.org. Facets has an amazing collection of foreign films, including many GLBT classics.
