I almost returned to Catholicism in my kitchen several evenings ago. Mother Nature sent a messenger to inform me that spring was coming and I killed it. I killed it emphatically; instantly, I felt guilty and that I needed to do penance. Hail Mary full of grace … . The roach-colored spider was the size of a 25-cent coin. I chased it out of some newspapers and stomped the life out of it. Spiders really bring out the worst in me.
I looked up and saw the stain on the wall that was a remnant of last year’s messenger. It was a black spider the size of a 25-cent coin. I killed that one emphatically, too.
