1. Music Tour News: Moby, OutKast (“Ms. Jackson”), New Order, and Nelly Furtado are among the acts featured in the Area:One Tour, which visits Tinley Park on July 25. Check out www.areafestival.com to view the lineup and buy tickets. Also, the gay-themed Wotapalava tour (with Soft Cell, Sinéad O’Connor, Pet Shop Boys, and Rufus Wainwright) starts in Miami on July 13 and ends Aug. 11. Visit www.wotapalava.com (whenever the site’s completed) to get more info.
2. Speaking of music, the Artemis Singers (www.artemissingers.org) is a Chicago-based lesbian-feminist organization. (No audition is needed if you fit the profile— which is a relief, because I wondered how you would prove your lesbianism in a tryout.) Find out about rehearsal dates, upcoming concerts, and who they are.
3. If you like science and don’t giggle when you hear “Uranus,” then take a gander at The National Organization of Gay and Lesbian Scientists and Technical Professionals site (www.noglstp.org). You can find out about their mission and even participate in discussion groups. Just don’t try to get fresh and ask about “natural formations.”
