Openly gay scholar Dwight McBride has been tapped to head up the University of Illinois-Chicago’s Department of African-American Studies.
McBride, 33, has an English bachelor’s from Princeton University and a Ph.D. from UCLA. He has been with UIC for two years and was recently granted tenure. He has done work in African-American, ethnic and queer studies.
He has been featured in The Advocate and Callaloo.
