The boards of three area AIDS service organizations recently announced that they are considering a merger.
Community Response in Oak Park, The HIV Coalition in Elk Grove Village and Open Hand Chicago will spend the next 4-6 months exploring the plan.
A decision is set to be made by the end of this year.
The agencies have some overlapping services. All three offer food and nutrition services to people living with AIDS and HIV. HIVCO and Community Response both have case management, while the latter also offers housing, prevention and education services.
The organizations stressed in a release that they all “have strong financial positions and come together as viable partners in this initiative.”
