More than 300 people participated in various activities relating to the Federation of Gay Games Site Visit of Chicago as a finalist bid city for the 2006 Gay Games. Last week’s events included a meeting with Mayor Daley, who told the Site Visit duo “I want ’em” when referring to the Gay Games.

Despite intense heat and a near-flood, the Chicago 2006 board members charged with leading the team to dozens of sports and culture venues finished the job Saturday morning at Market Days. Other events included a “Culture on the Lake” with community sports and culture leaders; a public board meeting at Circuit; and a focus on health and community groups at The Room.

The Federation representatives, Sue Kennedy and Rob Lavery, said they were impressed with the depth of support for the Games here, especially given that this is the first time Chicago has bid for the Gay Games.
