The Oct. 15 Tribune reported on a lesbian who was among those U.S. Army civilian employees killed during the airplane attack on the Pentagon Sept. 11. Peggy Neff, 54, had been partners with Sheila Hein, 51, for 17 years. “She refused to take herself too seriously, or her position too seriously, or where she might be going too seriously,” Neff said. “And I loved her all the more for that. She was intelligent enough to teach me how to vocalize my concerns, and I have a feeling she taught many people.”
