The AIDS Foundation of Chicago reports that, in response to recent reports that Illinois may be facing a $500 million budget deficit, legislators have begun looking for ways to immediately cut costs. Informal discussions about ways to trim state spending have begun, and all programs…including AIDS programs…are potential targets, AFC said. In fact, the AIDS Foundation of Chicago has learned that funding for Illinois’ AIDS Drug Assistance Program may be included in an effort to trim spending.

In preliminary discussions about ways to trim the budget, some lawmakers have suggested reducing the ADAP budget by as much as $3 million.
