The Funding Group on Gay and Lesbian Issues (FLAG) recently hosted a performance of The Laramie Project at the Next Theatre in Evanston to educate staff and board members of foundations on issues of intolerance that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people face.

“It is important to be educating non-profits and funders on the community-wide impact of hate crimes,” said Martha Wright, co-chair of FLAG. “We look forward to deepening the conversation around hate crimes, especially at this historic moment.”

The successful event was well attended by corporate, community and family foundation staff and board members. The Funding Group on Lesbian and Gay Issues is a working group of the Donor Forum of Chicago that seeks to raise the visibility of issues impacting the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community and advocate for greater resources in the philanthropic community.
