Chicagoans are hosting a Freedom to Marry Bake-Off and Reception in February, hoping to bring the fun back into the public dialogue on same-sex marriage. Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund is among the groups hosting the event, part of National Freedom to Marry Day celebrations and protestsk around the U.S.
The Freedom To Marry Reception / Bake-Off will be held either Tuesday evening, Feb. 12, or the preceding Saturday, Feb. 9, in a Loop or South or Near South location (venue negotiations underway). A handful of “guests” (entertainers) will offer toasts and stories. They are also inviting wedding cake contestants who will compete.
