Rev. Troy Perry, Founder and Moderator of the worldwide Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches, will be awarded the 2002 Rainbow Spirit Award Nov. 9 at the Westin Hotel in Chicago.

The members of the former United Church of Christ of Oak Park will be honored for their choosing to come into communion with the former Metropolitan Community Church of the Incarnation. The united church is called New Spirit MCC, located at Scoville and Adams in west suburban Oak Park. Affinity, a not-for-profit organization currently serving Chicago’s lesbian and bisexual women of African descent, is the third recipient of the 2002 Rainbow Spirit Award.
