After weeks of internal debate and international tele-conferencing, New Zealand art student Nick Cuthell, 22, was today named GTV’s Person of the Year 2002. ‘For bringing back Skinny Hippy Long Hair Chic, dressing it up in a tux and putting into a gay context by resting his hand on Sir Ian McKellen’s knee throughout The Oscars as billions watched on television across the globe, Nick Cuthell was, in the end, really the only choice we could make,’ said comedian and GAY TV columnist Gay Boy Ric at a private ceremony held at an undisclosed surfside location.
