Aldo Castillo Gallery presents Revisiting Frida, recent works by Esperanza Gama, Feb. 21-March 29, 2003, opening reception, Friday, Feb. 21, 5-9 p.m. Esperanza Gama’s recent work is in part a documentary of personal observation inspired by symbols of Mexican Magic Realism and the surrealistic art of Frida Kahlo. Gama’s study concentrates on the representation and metaphors utilized by Frida Kalho to describe her social and political beliefs, her dramatic medical problems, her past love history, and her inclusion in the Mexican surrealist movement.
