The About Face Youth Theatre announces the release of a ground-breaking youth-generated report, Youth Speak Out: Safer Schools, and the launch of a new coalition for adults, the About Face Youth Theatre Allies Council, at Thousand Waves, 1220 W. Belmont, Sunday, Feb. 23, 4-6 p.m. This is the first youth-generated report of its kind. Echoing the findings of The National Mental Health Association, GLSEN, and The Human Rights Watch, the report affirms that a high percentage of youth who identify as, or are perceived to be, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning do not feel safe in their schools and communities, and are targeted both verbally and physically.
