A special performance of Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues for Valentine’s ‘V-Day’ sold out at the DuSable Museum of African American History. Beneficiaries this year were Family Rescue and Rape Victims Advocates. V-Day is a worldwide movement to stop violence against women and girls. This year, more than 2,300 artistic and theatrical events were held throughout the world to benefit anti-violence organizations. More than 35 women participated in this performance, produced by Mary Morten, directed by Ilesha Duncan. Dancer Kate Johnson weaved in and out of some of the performances. Among the readers were C.C. Carter, Cheryl Corley, Cece Lobin, Edith Corra, Beth Richie, Donna Rose, Lucy Smith, Jackie Taylor, Laura Washington, and Cleo Wilson.
