Misty ‘June Gloom’ weather failed to dampen enthusiasm for Tijuana, Mexico’s 9th annual gay-pride parade June 7. About 300 marchers made their way down Revolution Avenue, the main drag of this city of two million people, cheered on by a few thousand spectators.

Straight men on the balconies of the street’s numerous bars blew kisses and pantomimed cunnilingus at the parade’s many drag queens. The march ended at Los Equipales, one of Tijuana’s main gay discothéques. California contingents included the San Diego Democratic Club, San Diego Pride and Adelante magazine from Los Angeles. A member of the Democratic Club contingent reported that two eggs and two tomatoes were thrown at a group of provocatively dressed transsexuals marching ahead of him. No one was hit, he said.
