After being fired for ranting at a gay caller to, among other things, ‘get AIDS and die,’ ousted MSNBC TV talk-show host Michael Savage apologized July 8. ‘If my comments brought pain to anyone I certainly did not intend for this to happen and apologize for any such reaction,’ Savage said on his Web site, www.michaelsavage.com. ‘I especially appeal to my many listeners in the gay community to accept my apologies for any inadvertent insults which may have occurred,’ he said. The Boston Glove reported that Boston’s WRKO-AM (680) suspended (‘at least temporarily’) Savage from its airwaves for the same incident. Savage’s radio show is syndicated out of San Francisco by the Oregon-based Talk Radio Network. TRN said no other stations have acted yet on the remarks.
