… Well, another queer Pride day has come and gone. I had the pleasure of riding on the Nightspots float, which was also (thanks to Creaoke) a karaoke float. At first, I was scared, but my fear soon subsided because most of the singers present chose great tunes to sing. One fellow, whose name I never caught, sang a Bob Seger song, and a young man named David, someone mentioned in this column before for doing a punk song up at the Jackhammer a few months ago, did a bang-up job covering R.E.M.’s ‘End of the World As We Know It.’ All in all, it was fun. Sukie looked like a glamorous tree. Graysong wore a polka-dot micro-miniskirt and a brooch that I was coveting. Kirk was sweet enough to share his cocktail with me. I even flirted with somebody who was in the crowd. He was standing on Broadway near Addison and he is tall, with blonde(ish) dreadlocks. When our float passed by, our eyes met and he raised one eyebrow in what may have been a suggestive manner, I’m not sure, but I smiled at him, and I kept looking back at him, trying to telepathically get him to follow us. Hey, maybe he’s not even queer or bi, but if anyone knows who this guy is, give him my e-mail here. I’d really like to chat him up, ya know? Oh, I was wearing a vintage navy Pierre Cardin suit, light blue Oleg Cassini shirt, and a white tie by some queen who calls herself Prince Ferrari. I hope I looked like the fop I imagine myself to be …

… My only disappointment that afternoon came from the fact that, once again, there was no rally!! Excuse me, but the fucking rally was always the best part! And this year, we could have celebrated the Supreme Court victory by having a Buttfuck in the Park, safely of course. I mean, c’mon, we’re gay because of the way we have sex, the highest court in the land (they wish) just said it was OK, as if we cared, so why not do it? That’s what we’re proud of, dammit!! My friend, guitarist extraordinaire, Taylor Ross, and I were gonna wear t-shirts emblazoned with the words: Cocksucker Pride. Alas, that day I could not find him. He was probably out in some cow pasture getting his kitty punched! (Much to the delight of the cows.) …

… OK, and this porch thing that happened the night before? Quite the tragedy. However, it did not happen because the owner or the city did or did not do something or other, it happened because they had too many people on that porch at one time. What, 13 died and 50-some-odd people were injured? That means there were 60-70 people on the porch. A porch like that, 30 people is a lot of people! All I’m sayin’ is, that it’s not a good idea, to get that many drinkin’ dancin’ celebratin’ motherfuckers on one little-ass porch. Really, darling, it’s just not …

… Anyway, icons are dropping like flies! Katherine Hepburn and Barry White! And, what is this I hear about a group dressed entirely in black, except for hot-pink scarves, rushing the car carrying San Francisco Supervisor Gavin Newsome? They were arrested! Pretty strange …

… Until next go round, ciao! Joanjettblakk@yahoo.com
