Facets Cinema is hosting two courses of interest to GLBT film lovers. One is on Pedro Almodovar, the other on Marlene Dietrich. Facets states on Almodovar: ‘Emotional. Controversial. Outrageous. Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodovar (Talk to Her, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown) fills his movies with a parade of sympathetic transvestites, nymphomaniacs, transsexuals, and obsessive fundamentalists. Fascinated with the fringes of sexual identity and the strength of women, Almodovar dishes up an irresistible mix of hilarious antics and profound melodrama. Come discover Spain’s delirious cult gay filmmaker and Academy Award winner, Almodovar.’
