Adam Lebowitz, 25, has been the Development Director of About Face Theatre since November 2003. Adam organizes the public image of the theatre, striving to make it more visible in the GLBT community as a social-service provider, especially for GLBT youth. Adam manages all fundraising events in addition to raising public visibility for the theater, and on June 3 he organized the annual ‘Wonka Ball,’ which 500 people attended. Working with the youth theater who do workshops and organize an annual play for About Face to perform has been most rewarding for Adam and has given him the opportunity to actively support the empowerment of GLBT youth. Adam’s involvement with the theater also gives him the opportunity to be part of an artistic and public forum that increases awareness of GLBT issues to a wide audience, he said. In addition to awareness-raising, About Face Theatre is dedicated to creating strong GLBT role models in the community, he said.
