Maegan Jenkins, 17, is a junior at Curie High School and the secretary of Gay-Straight Alliance, Curie Pride, where she has helped organize such events as the Day of Silence. She is currently an intern at About Face Theatre and has been a member of the Youth Leadership Council there for two years.
At About Face, Maegan is working on ‘Our Cities, Our Stories,’ a project which tells the stories of GLBT people and their allies all over the city who were interviewed by youth theater members. The play hopes to bridge the gap between older and younger GLBT generations, Maegan said. With her involvement in About Face Theatre, Maegan said she hopes audiences are more exposed to GLBT issues and that the community as a whole will become more visible. Maegan hopes to study costume and set design after graduating.
