The handsome touring revival of The King and I really does this great musical comedy classic up brown. The role of Anne Leonowens fits Sandy Duncan like a glove, Martin Vidnovic is a robust king, the voices are strong, the orchestra sounds full, the scenery is rich and exotic, and the ensemble of over 40 mostly Asian and Latin-Asian performers are quite comely. The romantic and exotic score and the central drama hold their own, too, a tribute to the writing powers of Rodgers and Hammerstein. The King and I, Auditorium Theatre through Aug. 15; $18-$72.50; (312) 902-1400.
