Chicago police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a teacher whose body was found in his Edgewater home Sunday afternoon.
Police found Gage Park High School teacher Charles Gibson, 54, in his condominium at 1052 W. Balmoral, according to Pat Camden, deputy director of news affairs. A friend of Gibson called police to check on him; the building manager and a locksmith were also summoned to the victim’s place. When the door was opened, they found Gibson lying naked in the hallway. Camden added that a seven-inch knife was recovered at the scene.
A Cook County medical examiner’s spokesman stated that Gibson died of multiple stab wounds. Gibson was pronounced dead at 10:20 p.m. Sunday.
When asked if Gibson’s murder had any connection to the stabbing deaths of Kevin Clewer and Brad Winters, Camden responded that there was none. When questioned about this latest killing having any gay connection, Camden said that there was no evidence that showed any link and that ‘[the police] treat every homicide as a homicide.’
