Chicago Ald Thomas Tunney (44th) and George Loukas, Chairman of Wrigley Rooftop Charities presented a check for $5,000 on behalf of the Lake View Pantry to Gary Garland, executive director, Nov. 23 to support needy families in the community.

The Lake View Pantry is recovering from a fire that forced its food distribution program from St. Alphonsus Church last October, according to Garland. In accepting the check Garland thanked Ald. Tunney and Loukas for their continuing support of the food program that assists upwards of some 18,000 persons with 700 pounds of foodstuffs annually.

Tunney and the participants in the Wrigley Rooftop Charities have been instumental in supporting a broad range of community charities for impoverished families and neighborhood organizations striving to maintain and promote the Lake View community.

Since the fire that hit the Lake View Pantry operations in October, the organization that has become a vital part of the community and is now at 3831 N. Broadway.
