A famous and influential essay of the muckraking era was titled, If Christ Came to Chicago. Its conclusion was that Chicago wasn’t ready for reform. In more recent decades, however, Christ has returned to Chicago repeatedly in the form of the musical show Jesus Christ Superstar, or The Passion of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, which has played here more times than we can remember. Now it’s back once again, for those with nothing to do between Christmas and Easter, this time at the Ford Center/Oriental Theatre (Randolph at State), through Jan. 23. (312) 902-1400; $20-$70.
