The comedy duo of Straight & Nappy presents Straight & Nappy Presents Straight and Nappy, a new sketch comedy and musical revue, Saturdays at 9 p.m., March 26-April 30, at Donny Skybox Theatre, 1608 N. Wells St., Piper’s Alley, 4th floor, Chicago.

Straight & Nappy presents Straight and Nappy is a 25-minute original sketch comedy and musical revue written and performed by Pip Lilly and Rebecca Jackson. Dre Robinson is director. Jeffrey Bouthiette is musical director.

Characters include two misguided gospel singers that spend more time ‘testifying’ about their mundane worlds than actually singing; a freestyle rapper whose gay proclivity is revealed whenever he begins to rhyme; and two ‘ladies’ men’ well past their prime deciding when is the right time to ‘get out of the game.’

The comedy duo Straight & Nappy seeks to answer the question: What happens when an openly gay liberal Black man from a lower-class single-parent home meets a conservative heterosexual Black woman from a middle-class two-parent home?

Founded in 2004, Straight & Nappy is a comedy duo composed of Pip Lilly and Rebecca Jackson. Straight & Nappy has also appeared in Words, produced by The Second City Outreach & Diversity in association with DMG Freedom. Lilly, a former member of The Second City National Touring Company, has been a Chicago theatre fixture since 1994. Jackson spent three years as a member of the comedy troupe Barrel of Monkeys.
