Clark’s on Clark, a North Side bar that is popular with many because of its laid-back atmosphere, was raided April 10 and meth-related arrests were made, according to Lieutenant Bob Stasch of Chicago’s 23rd District police department.

Sergeant Noel Sanchez of the Narcotics Division of the police department informed Windy City Times that the division, along with the 20th District police, acted on information that transactions involving narcotics were occurring at the bar, located at 5001 N. Clark. Sanchez then said that the police watched the location and waited for the bar to close. After entering, officers arrested four subjects. The accused will be arraigned at 26th and California later this month.

Regarding the bar’s future, Sanchez related that the bar owners will have to appear before the Illinois Liquor Commission to determine if the business will lose its license permanently. The bar is currently open for business. The officer also commented on how widespread meth use is in the city. ‘ [Meth] seems to be more prevalent in the 16th, 17th, 20th, and 23rd districts right now,’ he said. ‘I’ve been in the department 13 years and I know that meth has been around for some time underground. However, a couple of [recent] arrests have definitely put it in the spotlight.’
