WCPT, a progressive talk radio station that bills itself as ‘Our Kind of Talk for Our Kind of Town,’ debuted May 5 at 850 on the AM band, according to a press release from Newsweb Corporation.

The station features several shows with nationally known hosts, including:

— Springer on the Radio: This show airs at 8 a.m. and is hosted by former Cincinnati mayor and talk-show host Jerry Springer.

— The Al Franken Show: Franken, best-known for his work on TV’s Saturday Night Live, and journalist Katherine Lanpher host a program that runs 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

— The Ed Schultz Show: This program starts at 2 p.m.

— The Randi Rhodes Show: Rhodes, a premier talk-radio host, airs at 5 p.m.

In addition to the previously mentioned programs, WCPT will air several other shows on the weekend hosted by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and Mike Papantonio; former WLS radio host Mike Malloy; political activist David Bender; singer-songwriter Steve Earle; and The Lionel Show. The station will also feature news programs.
