For one night only, Chicago’s top dance companies—including Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, River North Chicago Dance Company, Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago and Joffrey Ballet Chicago—will come together for Dance Divas, a unique night of high kicks, high camp and high heels. Dance Divas will feature men from Chicago’s leading dance companies donning lipstick, powder and paint as they pay tribute to legendary ladies of stage, screen and pop music. ‘Madonna,’ ‘Dolly Parton,’ ‘Beyonce’ and other renowned dance icons are scheduled to make lively appearances.

Proceeds benefit the AIDS Foundation of Chicago, Test Positive Aware Network, Better Existence with HIV, South Side Help Center and The Dance for Life Fund.

The evening will open with a moving rendition of the early ’80s roller-skating movie Xanadu, staring ‘Olivia Newton-John.’ Also making an appearance will be ‘Leslie Ann Warren,’ ‘Paula Abdul,’ ‘Tina Turner’ and ‘Dorothy Dandridge.’ Guests can also look forward to a crowd-rousing ‘Mega Mix’ by ‘Britney Spears’ and the cast of Grease.

Founded in 1996 by Tony Savino, Dance Divas, part of the Dance for Life series, has evolved into a sophisticated performance, while retaining the campy appeal that has become its trademark. Chicago’s top professional dancers will shine in performances by acclaimed choreographer Harrison McEldowney. Hair and makeup will be provided by Who’s That Girl producer Patrick Russo.

The event is Friday, June 10, The Fairmont Chicago, Moulin Rouge Showroom, 200 North Columbus Dr., see www.aidschicago.org, or call (312) 922-2322.
