Under the Mediterranean sun, 50 sisters are forced against their will to marry 50 brothers, their cousins. The result is slaughter as the women assert their independence. The original is Greek, The Suppliants by Aeschylus, but this—Big Love—is a forceful and surprisingly entertaining contemporary treatment by the always-interesting Charles L. Mee. Big Love received a big production at the Goodman Theatre several years ago, but this is the first local staging by a smaller troupe, Experimental Theatre Company of Chicago. Through June 26, Chopin Theatre, 1543 W. Division; (312) 388-7660; $15-$20.
