Howard Brown Health Center’s new Mentor Program for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning (LGBTQ) youth has begun. Funded by the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago, the Mentor Program will allow youth who often experience isolation to develop healthy relationship with caring adults from the LGBTQ community.
The group is being headed by Tony Alvarado-Rivera and will take steps to develop a Mentor Community Advisory Board (MCAB). The mentor program is looking for youth and adult volunteers who would like to serve on the MCAB, which will be responsible for the overall development, implementation, and evaluation of the Mentor Program.
