Despite a non-stop torrential downpour on the afternoon of June 21, guests stayed dry and toasty at the Queer Women’s Pride Kick Off Celebration for 2026 at Beatnik West Town, 1604 W. Chicago Ave.
The social was the latest gathering curated by Clandestina and DJ Gloria and created a warm, inviting social space for queer women to mingle, socialize, dance and network. Guests enjoyes cheeseburgers and tapas as DJ Gloria spun laid back funk beats the entire afternoon.
Clandestina, which translates as ‘speakeasy’ from Spanish, has been holding events for 11years. Organization creator Alma Izquierdo said, “Queer women over 40 need their own space and years ago we stepped up to fill the void.”
