Daniel Alvarez was born and raised on the West Side of the city in the community of Little Village. He attended the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla., where he began working for the LGBTQ community. This past year Daniel has been an ally with the Public Allies Chicago apprenticeship program in nonprofit work. Through Public Allies, he has had the opportunity to work with About Face Theatre in its Educational Programs Department. During his time there, Daniel has helped coordinate the award-winning Outreach Tour, sparking discussion of LGBTQ issues in schools across the area, worked with the About Face Youth Theatre’s Youth Leadership Council and in the planning and implementation of The Home Project, AFYT’s summer theatre program for LGBTQ youth.
