Elana Jacobs, 27, is currently a grad student at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she is studying to become a high-school chemistry teacher; while there, she is a member of the school’s pride group. In addition, she is a social action board member of Or Chadash, an LGBT synagogue and is a diversity trainer. Lastly, she is a member of GLSEN Chicago’s education and training committees.
DID YOU KNOW? Elana has what she calls a ‘vegan moose head’ in her office that serves as a reminder to not take herself too seriously and to respect diversity. The head is actually a vinyl blow-up that resembles the real thing found in ski lodges.
