Sarah Stigler, 24, is a beacon of inspiration by excelling in a field that features very few women: plumbing. She has managed to be accepted into the extremely competitive apprenticeship program with the Local 130 Plumbers Union. Sarah is active in her union, attending meetings and participating in programs such as Building Together and Plumbing for Seniors. Sarah is also working toward ultimately earning her Master Welders certification, which demands an additional certification in diving for underwater welding.

Outside of work, Sarah is a member of Chicago Women in Trades. She speaks at meetings, educates others on the organization, and teaches hands-on courses to women who are interested in trades. In addition, Sarah has exhibited a love of boxing. In fact, she loves it so much that she has started training professionally.

DID YOU KNOW? Sarah had been at the site of the awards reception (the Hilton Chicago) many times—but the event marked the first time that she was not there for work.
